Lifetime of Learning

I learned something new this week, about the effects of not taking care of myself. I went to the eye doctor, because my distance vision is blurry. My prescription had changed dramatically from June,
but it was the EXACT same prescription from the old glasses I had before then. The Optometrist says diabetes can cause vision fluctuations. That's probably what I was experiencing in June, since I wasn't diagnosed with Type II diabetes until August. It's amazing how blood sugar can affect all of our body's systems. My sugar is under control now. And I'm on a new, healthy living plan with Take Shape for Life. It includes eating six small meals a day, 5 of which come from the Medifast Physicans' Diet. The food is pretty good and very satisfying. I pick one "lean and green" meal on my own. The goal is to get the body in a fat burning state and then once goal weight is achieved, the education we're getting will help us make healthier lifestyle choices as we transition off the prescribed foods. My wife Beth started the TSFL before I did and is now a coach.

I feel better, have more energy and I've lost 15 pounds on the program. My goal weight is just 31 pounds away! More updates as I get healthier. By the way, when I took the health assessment, I scored a minus 64. Zero is as sick as you are supposed to get. So I have a lot of healing to do.
And I haven't gone this long without sugary pop since 4th grade. And I honestly don't miss it.
Keeping my healthy life goals in mind makes it easier to stay on the program.

  1. I'm so proud of US, honey! And, next summer, let's take an "after picture" to replace the one at the beach!
