I accompanied my lovely bride to her 20th college reunion this weekend in Wheaton. I took every opportunity to introduce myself as "Beth's Husband!" I like being her husband. It was so cool to meet her friends from her college days, a time when there were many drastic and painful changes in her family life. I met the music professor and classmate who had a lot to do with keeping Beth alive and ticking when she was very depressed about the breakup of her family back in Florida. Back then, God knew that He had plans for her, plans for a future and a hope. And at that same time, God had plans for me, too. While Beth was graduating college, I was busy trying to run my life and career into the ground, acting like a mini-tyrant and treating people with disdain and sarcasm that went beyond smart-alecky or humorous. God has redeemed the time, for both of us. I like being Beth's husband!
